17 weeks - My Story So Far...

This is my story so far...

I was about 9 1/2 weeks pregnant and I started to bleed.

Just to let you know, no matter what the Doctors or other people say its NOT NORMAL to bleed at anytime if you are pregnant.

I went into the ER and they did tons of tests to see what the problem was. I went in for the ultrasound and they said "Thats the problem...Its TWINS!" that is probably why this is happening, your body is not used to being prego and you are just stretching too much because there are TWO.

So I went home and everything seemed to be okay for a week or so. Never had ANY pain even the first time. My first visit to any Doctor was the ER and they set me up with an appointment with my new Doctor like 3 weeks later.

I called and asked them if they would make it sooner because I had some questions but he said it was a normal time to see the Doc and they wouldn't change it.

So, for the first 2 weeks I did a TON of research online about what happened and nothing seemed to be right. (Also, when in the ER I was there for about 5 hours and saw the Doctor for maybe 3 min total).

So, I got pissed and scared and called back and let them have a little taste of a pregnant redhead! They set up an emergency ultrasound the next morning. I wasn't quite sure this was "normal" and I wanted another opinion.

The next day they found a 5.7cm Subcorionic Hemorrhage and put me on bedrest because they said there's a 50/50 chance of miscarriage with twins and that size of a Hematoma.

I had been on strict bed rest for a little over 3 weeks. I was about 15 weeks prego when I went in to see the Doc and found out the Hematoma is now 3.2cm and not active! So it's healing and the babies are HUGE! They are around 4 inches each and 2 1/2 oz each!

I am now 17 weeks and on 1/2 bedrest. Up 1/2 the day and down 1/2 the day.

To all my friends and family, please pray for our babies! try not to worry because things are WAY BETTER and I am and have always been very positive and happy.

Doc says if it continues to go the way it is then there should be not other problems!

It's all worth it in the end, but still pretty hard.

I want all you Mammas-to-be to know, TRUST YOUR HEART, if something doesn't seem right get 100 different opinions. MAKE THEM LISTEN TO YOU! You're the only one who will stick up for your baby or babies when it comes to a busy hospital.

Best of luck!!

I can definitely empathize with your story. I bled at 8 weeks, the day after they told me I was expecting twins. A pretty heavy bleed, and I was told- well, the risk of miscarriage is greater with twins, only time will tell. Another bleed happened at 14 weeks, this one with clots. Again, they couldn't find a cause and no recommendations followed. Throughout the pregnancy I felt very detached and was just too scared to prepare for having my babies- in case we lost them. I so wished I could have a magic mirror to see what the outcome would ultimately be. But I was blessed to have my babies at 39 weeks, healthy and perfect, my little blessings from God.
I do not know to this day what led to the bleeds, but I do know I had to take it day by day, and make sure I took really good care of myself.
Best of luck with your little miracles! I hope everything goes well for you and your babies!!! I

bleeding isnt normal.

no, bleeding is not normal during pregnancy, ever. spotting is, which is an entirely different thing. if you continue to have your period during the pregnancy that is actually quiet rare. but all bleeding should be checked, so she didn't give any false information. and i had bleeding at 9 weeks too and found out it was twins, the doctors can't explain it but they don't say it's normal, and usually you will be watched and considered high risk if you do.

Bleeding can be normal
by: Anonymous

I had a huge bout of bleeding with my little one at 7 weeks. It stopped after a day and my pregnancy continued 40 weeks until I had a beautiful, healthy boy. A cause for the bleeding was never determined. Sometimes it just happens! :) You do look lovely. Best wishes for a wonderful pregnancy.

Bleeding IS normal in pregnancy. You are not a doctor, so don't go giving false information.

I bled on and off throughout the first trimester and my baby is happy and healthy, and many others will tell you the same thing.

I too had subchorionic hemoraging and passed a 7mm blod clot. I was on bed rest for 3 wks and started to heal that was at 12wks. I am now 29wks and have been on bed rest the last 5 for a weak cervix. make sure to really take the 1/2 day bed rest to heart and make everyone take care of you and your little ones.

Mum knows best
by: Tamara

I just want to tell you that your story is so very important for new moms and other moms to hear. Too many times a baby is put at risk or doesn't make it due to a doctors ignorance, lack of care, patience or undermining a mothers concern. Good for you!!!

PS you look absolutely beautiful.
