7 Weeks Pregnant With Twins and Having Severe Lower Back Pain At Night

by Tara

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with twins. It should also be mentioned that I suffered severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome due to fertility treatments. That has since subsided, but the last 2 nights I have been woken out of a dead sleep with severe sharp pain in the left side of my lower back. It is not a constant pain, but is multiplied by about 100 when I take a deep breath, or exhale deeply. As soon as I stand up and walk around, it goes away. Has anyone else experienced this? I go back to the doctor for my second ultrasound in a few days and I will definately be bringing this up, but I was just wondering if anyone else experienced anything close?

enlarged follicle?
by: Anonymous

I am 16 wks and I have had recurring pain in my right back/hip/ovary for about 8 weeks. In my case, it's an enlarged follicle in my ovary (8cm instead of 2-3cm). I imagine your dr will look for this in the ultrasound. My pain is worse when I move around though, so I'm not sure if it's the same as yours. I was told that the follicle should shrink on its own eventually. I am going to try some homeopathic remedies (under ND supervision) to try to speed things up.

i had moderate OHSS after ivf as well...

you need to call your dr cause you could have a tor ovarie, its flipped over on its self and cutting off the blood supply.

but i was extreamly bloated in the begining weeks.. my ovaries at 15 weeks are still not back to their normal size yet. ive had multiple us to keep an eye on them..

good luck and try having your partner massage your back or butt... its also safe to get a professional message too ;)

back pain

I had the same thing for a couple months and every now and then it comes back...but its like the more walking and stuff I do the less often I have it at night...the dr said it was most likely the sciatic nerve. In some cases it can travel all the way down your leg but mine was my lower back on the left side and just over the butt cheek. I am now 22 weeks and it has not bothered me in a couple weeks but it was only at night when I would lay down and I got a body pillow and some extra pillows to put between my legs and I would lay on my right side....also my dr said to use a heating pad just make sure it stayed only on your back. But with anything talk to your dr but maybe look up sciatic nerve pain and see if it sounds like what you may have.
