Delivery Time After Cerclage Removal?

by Liz
(South Carolina)

I had a cerclage placed at 14 weeks due to a incompetent cervix. I am scheduled to have it removed at 36 weeks and was wondering what anyone else's experiences had been. My doctor has said it could be anywhere from that day to a week or two from when it comes out. Baby a's head is low in my pelvis so I don't know how much that would affect how early they arrive. Thanks for any stories of experiences or advice.

Cerclage placement for multiples
by: AM Sutton

I was pregnant in 2009 with triplet boys. My cervix dramatically shortened at 20 weeks, and I had an emergency cerclage put in. Unfortunately it did not hold, and they ripped through it at 26 weeks. My triplets lived a week, and then I lost all three. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant now with twins. I had a cerclage put in at 12 weeks. The doctor stitched me twice. So far this cerclage is holding up much better than the last one. I am told the timing of cerclage is important. Earlier ones work better. I hope this is true. However, I am also on bed rest. I have been on bed rest since week 8 of this pregnancy.
