Diagnosed with Momo Twins at 10 weeks

by Robyn
(Ft. Washington, MD)

I went in for a routine 10 week checkup for the NIPT test and had to get an emergency ultrasound due to some slight complications. During the ultrasound, it was discovered that there were 2 babies in 1 sac. I was immediately referred to a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist.

My NIPT and Nuchal Translucency test have both come back looking great so it appears they are healthy and lively.

At my first appointment at 12 weeks with the MFM, I was advised of the risks of which almost left me breathless. I had read about the condition prior to my appointment but hearing from the MFM specialist was different. I was told then that I would be admitted to the hospital when I reached 24 weeks and kept there until 32 weeks when they would schedule a c-section.

I'm heading into week 14 and I pray everyday. I have felt their movements since week 13 and I look forward to them everyday as a reminder that one day soon, I will be able to hold them.
