Why people think twins skip a generation
by: Anonymous

This is based on a scenario like this:

Alice has a genetic tendency to hyper-ovulate and has (fraternal) twin sons, Bob and Billy.

Obviously, Neither is capable of expressing the tendency but they may be carrying it. They can't do anything about their wives' genetic tendency and thus have no more chance than the general population of twins at this stage.

Billy has a daughter, Charlotte and passes on to her the genetic tendency to hyper-ovulate that he inherited from Alice.

When Charlotte grows up, she is indeed capable of expressing the tendency to hyper-ovulate and has fraternal twin daughters, Daisy and Dolly.

Yeah right...
by: Alissa

I'm a twin and my twin miscarried with twins. I found out a couple weeks ago that I'm expecting twins. I have twin aunts, on my mom's side, and one of my twin aunts had twins. This seems to NOT be the case in my family either. I've heard that a million times already and I'm only 7 weeks!!
