How Do You Identify Identical Twins?

by Elaine
(Los Angeles)

I have a high probability of having identical twins (sharing the same sac and gender.. but MDs told me that this can only be identified once babies are born). There are alot of products like bracelets for girls, but I am having boys... Anyone who may have an idea, website or store I can check for such product?

Please help. Thank you.

Identifying Identical Twins
by: Anonymous

I was nervous about not being able to tell apart my girls but I really don't have a problem. A couple of times I have had to look twice but for the most part I can tell them apart. Many people ask me how I tell them apart - so I guess they really appear similar to people who do not see them all the time but you will know. But if you really have a problem...paint their toenail (no one will ever see it). I don't believe in assigning colors...
Also look for freckles or birthmarks -
One of my daughters has a freckle on her left ankle so if I was desperate...then I would check out the ankle!
Good luck.

Use A Dab Of Nail Polish

It sounds like you are a bit worried about being able to tell your twins apart if they're identical. This is a common concern for new parents of twins. But, don't fret too much, as I have yet to meet a parent who had a real problem identifying who is who. I have written a little article about this particular issue which offers some tips and tricks...

How To Tell Twins Apart

Also, if your twins are indeed sharing the same amniotic sac then they are automatically identical, as this is not possible with fraternal twins.

Best of luck and congratulations on your twin pregnancy!
