I'm stocking up on Diapers and was wondering.. anyone that already had your twins if you could tell me how many newborn diapers to stock up on? Also Stage 1 diapers.

Any information will be helpful.

Hi Lynda,

By now, your twins are six-year-olds, but I'll write this in the hopes that it helps someone else.

Our twins were big (9+ lb and 6+ lb). We only spent about two weeks in newborn diapers before we moved up to size 1. If you're like us, you'll go through the small sizes pretty fast, then you'll spend a very long time in size 4 or so.

If anyone is looking for a more exact estimate of how many diapers you'll go through and what sizes, you may find this useful:

It uses the CDC growth charts to estimate how quickly your baby will grow, and the diaper companies' charts to determine what weight your baby will be in different sizes.

I really under estimated the amount of diapers I would need. My twins were born at 34 weeks (seven weeks ago) and when we came home from the NICU (after 2 weeks) we went through 3 cases of Premiee diapers (80 per case) in less than 3 weeks, and we are now in Newborn diapers and over this last 2 weeks we've gone through over 2 cases... my suggestion- you can never have too many (they can always be swapped for the next size up) and NEVER let a coupon go to waste!

First of all, Congrats!! My twins are 14 months, so it's been a while, but if I remember correctly, I think I only used newborn diapers for a month or two. Then a lot of size one's!! You can probably figure about 10-12 diapers a day per child. Just be sure not to open them all and if they grow out of them before you use them, just take them back. I know Walmart is really good about taking them back. Not sure about anywhere else. Good Luck!!
