Identical Or Not?

by Courtney
(Michigan)

Well, I'm now 14 weeks pregnant. But this ultrasound pic was from when I was about 9 weeks 3 days. And was just wondering if anyone could tell if they looked to be identical or not...

It may be the angle of the ultrasound. Mine was done at 7 weeks 5 days and it looked similar to that, however at different angles she could see what she thought were two yolks and she and the doctor agreed that they appear to be fraternal.

identical vs fraternal
by: Ashley Adams

fraternal twins are always in seperate sacs whereas identical twins can either share the sac or be in seperate ones, being that it looks like they are in the same sac they are identical but for those of you out there that believe just bc there are two sacs in the sonogram that ur babies are not identical u are wrong, identical twins can be in seperate sacs, the only sure fire way to determine if the twins are fraternal or identical if they are in seperate sacs is for a blood test after birth. if there is one sac it is definilty identical though, more then one sac it can be identical or fraternal

BOYS!!!
by: Anonymous

Well I had another ultrasound done at 15 weeks 3 days and the are boys!! And they did find a membrane... The ultrasound tech said that since there was only one yolk sac presence at my first ultrasound ( 6 weeks and didnt know there were 2 in there) and there is only one placenta that it means I only dropped one egg and it split and that would make them identical...

Maybe...

I was always told identicals sharing a sac is actually not very common. Most share a chorion but have separate amnions. It could be the angle of the pic. But then it also could be they are identicals. In that case, your pregnancy will be even higher risk because they will share one placenta and run the risk of twin/twin transfusion. My identical twin boys shared a chorion but had that membrane and I had 2 placenta fused into one. Good luck!

Identical

I'm about nine weeks right now and my last ultrasound looked exactly like that. The Dr said they are identical because there is only one sac.

Possibly identical???

Looks possibly identical. I definitely dont see two seperate sacs as with my fraternals.
