Preemie Twins and Feeding Rice Cereal?

I have 11 week old preemie twins (born at 33 weeks) and am wondering if anyone has fed their babies rice with the formula in the bottle and how that worked out for them? It seems that sometimes one or the other is not satisfied after the bottle and it would be great to have them sleeping longer through the night.

I used to put a little bit of rice cereal in their bottles along with formula and it was just fine. Doctor said it was okay as well. I can't remember exactly how early I started it, but they weren't more than a few months old (they were preemies too - born at 36 weeks). It helped to keep them full through the night and I have to stress that there were NO problems for them - no upset stomach or any type of adverse reaction.

I wouldnt advise putting anything else at all in their bottles along with their milk! its very unhealthy and as the lady above says it upsets their tummies, feed them with a spoon, just please take my advice and dont put it in their bottles. if you were to ask your health visitor this question she'd slap your wrist for it. understandably if your a first time mum you dont really know the unwritten rules but you'll get there. i wish you the best of luck with your twins x

Well I have twin boys born at 36 weeks and 5 days and I tried Rice cereal at 4 1/2 months. The one I got was gerber DHA and now I am dealing with them having an allergic reaction to it. It did help them sleep a little bit longer, but still not through the night. I now have to wait a week or so and try a different brand or plain... Just try a little at first to make sure they don't have any allergies. The DHA one has a fish oil in it according to my doctor. She thinks thats what the allergy is. They also told me I could start them on the yellow baby food since that is the easiest to digest, if the rice doesnt work.

I have 16 week old twin girls I have tried the cereal in the bottle a couple of times but it just seems to upset their tummies a little. I thought it would get me more sleep and ended up getting me less... only thing I can say is try it and see but do it during the day while they nap instead of at night when you need to sleep
my girls were 29 weeks so maybe theirs was just too soon.. I did it with my 33 weeker 12 years ago and it worked just fine. each baby is dif and it may work for you
