Three Young Boys

by Anonymous

We are the parents of three children, a boy 4 years old and twin boys 2 years old. It was a surprise to be expecting twins, but my wife and I had enough time, almost seven months, to prepare for the event.

When the healthy boys were born, our 100% being prepared was reduced to about 25% when we brought them home. It is not easier to take care of twins than a single child. That is just what people/relatives/friends want you to believe.

They tend to want different things at the same time. They want to play with the same noisy toy at the same time. When one wants to sleep the other one wants to play. All of this attention has to be carefully be monitored so that our first son is not ignored . He was "king of the house" but has learned to share the throne with his brothers. A family of three children is a great responsibility but we are blessed to have healthy, happy children.

One thing we suggest...Don't dress the three kids alike. They are three individuals and deserve to develop their own personalities and be recognized as individuals in a family.

I'm in the same boat!
by: Marissa

We have a son who just turned 2 a couple days ago and I am 15 weeks pg with twin boys. I often worry about what life will be like when our only son is suddenly faced with two little brothers taking away his time and invading his territory. I'm sure we'll figure it out, it's just nice to know we aren't completely alone!
