Tightening of the Belly at 22 Weeks With Twins

I'm 22 weeks pregnant with twins. This is my 2nd pregnancy. My first pregnancy was a healthy one going to term, easy delivery. Yesterday I started feeling tightening on my belly that did not ease up with rest or changing positions. Went to hospital, not in labour...I'm wondering if this is a sign that babeis may come earlier than expected...Aside from rest, is there anything I can do to help the babies stay in?

braxton hicks

I wouldn't worry. I'm 23 weeks with twins, and I've been experiencing the same thing for the past couple of weeks. I've asked a lot of questions and done research and the conclusion I've reached is that with our uterus expanding so much and so quickly it becomes more irritable so mild contractions and braxton hicks are normal to feel for twin pregnancies. Just make sure your doctor knows about them. And as soon as you feel some coming on, lay down and time them. As long as they remain irregular and go away with rest, you shouldn't have to worry. Also, have your doctor check to make sure your cervix isn't shortening or dialating. You did the right thing to call in about it, though. Any time you feel something that concerns you, calling your doctor is the best thing to do, even if it's late at night. You don't want to risk your babies well-being on not wanting to bother your doctor.
