Extremely Sick And Tired During Twin Pregnancy?

by Shareece
(Newark, CA)

I am 8 weeks pregnant, and the doctors confirmed it's twins via ultrasound. I had an inkling I was having twins because I had a super positive test before I even missed my period...

My question is... Is it normal to feel morning sickness all day with twins? With my other children I was okay for the most part, but now I feel so weak, super tired, and I have no appetite.

Any recomendations would be appreciated.

I feel like I am lazy and on top of it, I have NO appetite... so I force myself to eat... I am glad to know that I am not the only tired one out there:)

I have 6 month old twins..they were my third pregnancy and with the first two I never had morning sickness or really got tired..in fact once I started nesting around 28 weeks my house was spotless and I had more energy than I do when I'm not expecting..with the twins I thought I would feel the same and just kept waiting to fell that great pulse of energy but it never came..I had morning sickness heart burn..you name it..only worse than any other pregnancy..and I guess that's normal..i was twice as pregnant as I had ever been before..I think if youre worn out it means you need rest..and you can always clean house after the twins go to pre-school..that's my plan anyway.

Welcome to Twin Pregnancy!
by: Cheri

Congrats on the new good news!!!!

The bad news is that you will notice that you have every symptom in the book and then some amplified due to the double dose of PG hormones that you produce with a twin pregnancy.

Do not be discouraged, but be well informed. You will get bigger quicker...I was in maternity clothes at 10 weeks and have gained a significant amount of weight. The fatigue in the first tri is very difficult to overcome, but nothing compared to 3rd tri, and I hope that you don't get the nasty insomnia that I have now.

You will also notice that you are short of breath more so with this pregnancy as compared to a singleton pregnancy.

The good news is that once you feel your babies moving around (first flutters will be earlier than with singletons), it makes it all worth while and gives you the "oomph" to keep going.

I hope this does not sound too negative, but I feel like you should be informed. Pick up a good twin pregnancy book, it may help. This site has been a God send for me to keep my sanity!!!! Different women experience their pregnancies in different ways....mine is a fraternal twin pregnancy and there is more stuff to learn if you are having ID twins....

Sending healthy vibes and prayers your way!!!!

Morning sickness
by: Danielle

So sorry you feel so yucky! My twins are 3 weeks old and I was pretty much sick my entire pregnancy... Ginger helped me a lot - even ginger bread cookies. Good luck!

Issues during Pregnancy
by: novembertwins

I agree. I am 22 weeks and just got out of the hospital after a 3 day stay.

I have had a lot of pregnancy induced issues since the beginning of this pregnancy.

Good luck to you.

Yes!

Supposedly b/c of extremely increased hormone levels, women with twin are "morning" sick 24/7 for their entire pregnancy. (Or at least I was.) I lost 25 lbs during my pregnancy and my doctor said it was normal...

Good Luck!
