Why Are So Many Celebrities Having Twins?

So, why are all these celebrities having twins? I mean, come on, there seems to be an announcement of a new celebrity twin birth (or twin pregnancy) cropping up every other week! From Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lopez to Brooke Muller (Charlie Sheen’s gal) and Molly Ringwald, just to name a few. There seems to be no end in sight, but there might be an explanation.

To better understand this veritable explosion in illustrious twin births, you need to better understand some of the science behind conceiving twins. It should be clarified, right off the bat, that the growing rate of twin birth is not exclusive to the celebrity community alone. There has been a pretty steady rise in twins, of about 75 percent, since the 1980s. And, there are a few key factors at work here.

Twin Stock 2009

Don't miss the Twin Stock 2009 blog party presented by our friend Jennifer at TwinHappy.com There are several really great give aways and it will be going on for the whole month of August. Weather you have your own blog or not, be sure to check it out!

The Snuggin Go

The Snuggin Go Okay folks, this is one of my favorite finds. Well, it was actually a gift from my friend Stacey over at alototots.com, but had I found it myself it would still be a fave! I hate to make this sound too review-y because that wasn’t the original purpose. But, I wish I would have known about the Snuggin Go for my twins, and I have been meaning to tell you all about it for awhile. Stacey is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to quality twin gear, as that's her site's focus. She sent the Snuggin Go to me for my newborn singleton because she thought it was such a helpful product. And, boy, is it ever! It's basically a support system for babies to keep their heads from slouching when they are sitting in a car seat, stroller, swing or highchair. It's unlike any of the typical head support systems that consist of the little curved pillow that goes around your baby's head. This thing actually works! I added pics of my Snuggin Go with my newborn daughter in it and you can see how she's sitting perfectly. I have not had her head slouch forward once, even after a ride in the car, uphill...amazing right? For more detailed info and to see a picture of twins using the Snuggin Go, you can visit alototots.com

Honorable Mentions

Featured Mom ~ Kimberly Becker

This month's featured mom has is really amazing. She's not only a mom of four, including a set of twins, she also runs some pretty awesome websites...

1) WHAT IS YOUR WEB SITE/BLOG?
Raising-Twins.com My business name is k4designs. It encompasses a few different things because I work online creating websites, and I work as a reborn doll artist, soon to be retailer. My websites are Raising Twins.com and Realistic-Reborn-Dolls.com.

2) HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON THIS BLOG/SUBJECT?
Well, becoming a mom and having children, and especially having twins, tends to shake things up a bit in a family. Financially and emotionally we didn't want to pay for childcare for our children so the decision was made that I would stay home and raise our kids. Of course, getting by on just one income is not so easy, and to be honest as much as I love being a mom, it's not all that I am. I feel more productive when I am learning and creating. So I decided to learn how to create a website based on subjects that I was passionate about (twins! and reborn dolls) and create an income online so that I'm able to be home with the kids and building a business at the same time. It's the best of both worlds.

3) WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THIS SUBJECT?
I love everything about working online, SEO, blogging, social media etc. It's like being in university with the sheer amount of learning involved. It's very exciting. I knew nothing about websites or internet traffic when I first started. I chose the topic of raising twins because when I had found out that I was pregnant with twins, the first thing I did was hit the internet to find all the information that I could. What I found at that time was that there was very little, and what there was, was either depressing , scary, or just spread out all over the place. I've found that I enjoy the process of website building so much I've now gone on to build another site, based on my hobby, as well as sites for other existing businesses and am currently brainstorming a third and fourth personal site for the upcoming year. I think I may be a little addicted! I love that I am here every day with my children and don't have to leave them in the care of someone else, while I am contributing to our families budget and saving for their future.

4) DO YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT ANY SPECIAL PROMOS, PRODUCTS, DEALS OR OTHER TOPICS?
I would encourage any mom who wants to be in business for herself to take a look at my 'Working at Home' page. It goes into more detail about the system I've used to learn how to build successful websites. I believe that everyone is an expert at something, or passionate enough about a topic, and can build their own successful business if they are just given the right tools and training. Moms of twins in particular seem to be incredibly capable women who often go off and create successful on or offline businesses. I have met so many! Maybe it's because we are so good at multi-tasking:)

5) TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR TWINS AND HOW YOU MANAGE IT ALL.
I'm happily married and a mother of 4. The older two are 12 and 6 and my fraternal twins have just turned 4 years old. This has truly been the best year for me with them. It all goes by so fast. When they were little I'd be nursing one, bouncing one under my desk in a chair with my foot and answering emails or working on the phone at all the same time. As they got older and more mobile I had to babyproof the whole house with baby gates and locks etc. I think we lowered our expectations of a tidy home the first couple of years! It's much easier now. They understand that mommy works on the computer and that I can stop any time and take them off to the playground. This past year has been wonderful. More fun and less stress. I just can't imagine bundling up 4 kids in the dead of winter, driving them to daycare and then going to work for someone else for 8 hours a day!

6) ANY ADVICE OR INSPIRING WORDS FOR OTHER MOMS?
Believe in yourself. Enjoy every minute because it really does just fly by. Take pictures. Take the time to play. Don't sweat the small stuff. Ask yourself if this will be important in 10 years. If not, let it go. Keep your sense of humor. Nap if you get the chance and need it. Ask for and accept help if it's offered. If you can find a way to do what you love, you'll never feel like you're working!

7) HOW DO OTHERS CONTACT YOU FOR MORE INFORMATION?
You can contact me through either of my sites or follow me on twitter @raisingtwins
