2 Sets of Twins...All 2 And Under!

by Andria
(Indiana)

My name is Andria and I have 2 sets of twins. My 1st set, 2 boys were born in April of 2007, My 2nd set is almost 5 mo old and are a boy and girl. Our lives are very busy right now. My husband works as a police officer from 2pm -10pm with many late nights while I work days as a loan processor in a bank. We do this so that we only need a sitter during the couple of hours our shifts overlap, because who could afford childcare for 4 kids!!

It has been really difficult adjusting to this schedule because it feels like we are both single parents.(We only see each other about twice a week.) The older boys have adjusted really well and love being big "helpers" The are constantly wanting to hold one of the babies. I look forward to the days when the boys are a little less needy and the babies can entertain themselves a little more. The hubby and I always make an effort to spend quality time with each set by themselves as well as just the two of us. It has been a major strain on our marriage though... I am hoping as they all get a little older things will get a bit easier. I love my kids so much and wouldn't change anything!!!!

Two sets as well
by: MJJ

Our older B/G set is just over two and I'm currently 28 weeks with another B/G set. It will be a wild time while the kids are little but I'm really excited for the tight friendships they will develop over time. I love being a mother to twins and am looking forward to meeting these next two.
We had in home child care and then switched to an au pair. If you have an extra room in your house, you might be suprised how cost effective and convenient it is. The agencies charge by the household, not the number of children you have. My husband and I can have dates so much more often now and some personal time either by ourselves or with one child.
Many people I've talked to dismiss an au pair out of hand because they think they don't want a stranger in their house. The thing is, she won't be a stranger long and the extra hand with all the childcare needs can be a marriage saver.

Reassuring
by: Richelle

This story is very reassuring because I too have two 2 girls at home an 8yr old and a 1 yr old, and I am expecting a set of twins in Sept (boy/girl). I am very nervous about the chaos this may bring to my life but I do also feel that children are blessings and that everything will work itself out. And to hear your story and how you wouldnt change a thing, it is so reassuring to me that even with all the changes Im sure I can make it! Thanks for the post its inspiring!
