8 Week Ultrasound Of My Twins

In this ultrasound I am 8 wks and 3 days. I have another ultrasound scheduled on 9/4/09. I wonder if my babies are identical? Does anyone know? I'm so excited.

First off... congratulations on your pregnancy!!! I'm glad everything is going well with your twins.I wouldn't worry too much about the momo twins because you will have another u/s to confirm if there is a membrane or not.Either way I learned to leave my pregnancy in God's hands and not worry.I'm so happy for you and I hope there is a membrane and if not I'm sure you will be very well taken care of by your physician.May everything go well for you and the babies.

Thank you so much for your postings about your u/s and momo twins. After 3 miscarriages this past year, my husband and I just found out we're pregnant again! We had our first u/s on Tuesday (10/6/09) and it showed that we're about 6 weeks along....and 2 HEARTBEATS!! They are sharing a sac and we were told they were most likely momo twins. We'll of course I did research as soon as I got home and all I'm hearing and reading is how high-risk I am and all the rest of the very negative stuff they talk about. I did not realize that they may find another membrane, but I'm guessing that's the chorian membrane, which one of my nurses did briefly mention. I guess I didn't realize that they may not find it this early on. This at least gives me some hope to hold onto! Thank you again!

They appear to be Monoamniotic twins which are always identical. I am 7 weeks with triplets, two of which are momo twins. I don't know what to think right now, just nervous.

Well congratulations on the arrival of your twins.I hope everything went well with your delivery.Thanks for your comment regarding the momo twins.I'm not worried anymore because they did find a membrane in my last u/s.But thank you for your support because we do tend to worry about the unknown.So yea...best of luck to us pregnant with twins and mommy of twins.

I just had my twins 9/1/09 and the initial ultrasound at 8 weeks looked very similar to yours - it's posted on this site with the title Surprise - I think I was measuring 7 weeks 6 days. Anyway, at one point my OB suspected mo-mo twins, but I went to a peri an they very easily found a membrane around 20 weeks. Don't worry yourself too much by all the mo-mo information on the Internet until you find out for sure ...

Momo or mono mono twins are identical twins sharing a placenta and amniotic sac. There is no membrance between the two of them.

My doc said if there are in one sac that means identical... it looks like your babies are in one sac together... congrats!

It's possible they could be identical. At my second appt around 12 wks, they were able to tell. My twin boys share the same placenta. They do have a membrane seperating them. That being said, they are technically in each their own sac inside of a larger sac together. It's good they have the membrane b/w them, it'll stop unwanted entanglement w/ the umbilical cord, etc. I will be 6 mths in 3 days, and these boys don't stop moving, but it's the greatest feeling ever!!! Good luck!!!
