A Question About VTS - Vanishing Twin Syndrome

by Jessica

I just read about VTS (Vanishing Twin Syndrome) and I'm 21 and pregnant with Identical Twins. I'm only 6 and a half weeks and I would like to know how often does a mother actually have both twins? I mean, I already have a 2 year old and I was real excited about the twins until now. Foes VTS happen often in Identical Twins, or is it rare? I'd love to have some feed back.

This is what my doc said

I was terrified about VTS too when I found out I was pregnant with twins. I'm not sure if it is more common in identical twins or not. I asked my doctor about it & she said that usually if they see 2 in there then they deliver two. I was worried that she was just saying this to make me feel better b/c I was crying & nervous about twins though! However, my good friend asked her OB (who lives in a different state & doesn't know me!) about VTS & she said the same thing. Stuff on the internet is scary! Don't read it & have good faith that your little ones will grow healthy & be safe!! Good luck!!
