Did You Plan On Having Twins?

by Becki

Someone actually asked me if I planned on having twins! Yeah, I made an extra egg drop (despite not being on fertility drugs), my husband willed his swimmers to go for both eggs, and we magically made the two eggs implant. Sure! We TOTALLY planned it!

Planned it? I'll tell you how...
by: Kelly

Our response to this is to tell people we 'did it' twice on the same night!

After someone suggesting that it must have been a 'rough' (ie shot his sperm up there fast hence causing the egg to break) conception we just use the response that my partner caused the egg to break when asked if we planned our twins. Shuts people up & funny if they believe us.
We get asked if we'd still have chosen to have a baby if we'd known it would be twins seeing as we have 4 children between us already.

plan identicals?
by: Anonymous

I haven't gotten this one yet. I'm 12.5 weeks with identical twins, so I would have to ask them how they think I could "plan" for a fertilized egg to SPLIT! I guess with fertility drugs or IVF you can "plan" that there's a "chance", but it's really up to God. But this was not our case. Totally identical means 1 egg, 1 sperm, and a spontaneous split that no one can predict, let alone plan.

Clueless

Wow, I didn't realise the "did you plan on having twins" was a widely asked dumb question (How do you plan twins?). I thought I'd just met someone clueless. She also asked what I'd do if at my next scan they found more?? I've had that question asked 3 more times since!

I'm only 13.5 weeks with twins and I've already had all those questions. The "were they natural" question does offend more than you want it to though.

What a Stupid Question!
by: Amanda M.

I had my twin daughters 7 weeks ago. I already have a 4 yr. old girl, 3 yr. old girl and 19 month old boy. I get that all the time..."Wow did you plan that?". My pregnancy yes, twins no! Who has that kinda power people...seriously! DUH!!! I also get the ever famous.."Wow, you ARE busy!" No kidding moron, of course I am busy I have 5 kids who are 4 yrs. and under! Thanks for pointing out the obvious though!!

Hear me roar!
by: Becki

I'm at the end of my 27nd week, first pregnancy. All of this is so new, but I'm amazed at how people who have had children think they have a clue about twins! The whole experience is different from what I imagined it to be, not to mention preparations are quite different from the singleton guides!

We have a nursery set up that is about 11x11 feet, and have been able to put one crib (with room for the second), two bookshelves (with baskets to replace the nonexistent dressers we can neither afford nor fit in there!), changing table, mini fridge (for middle of the night feedings and Diet Coke for me), thousands of diapers (in the closet), space for a lamp, a rug, etc. in what other people would normally balk as being "too small" for one baby. I am a multiples mommy-to-be...hear me roar! LOL!
