Monoamniotic Twins With Two Sacs?

Ok, I was just found out that I'm havin monoamniotic boys but they are in 2 different sacs a membrane was found. My question is are my little angels still at risk of cord entanglement even if their in their own amniotic sacs?

Mono-Di girls!

I am currently 33w 5d with Monochorionic/Diamniotic girls! The first ultrasound I had for this pregnancy (a dating one) was at 11 weeks and that is when we found out it was twins. The first thing the tech did was determine what kind of twins they were and a membrane was found! So they are sharing one placenta and have their own amniotic sacs. I was referred to an OBGyN right away (In Ontario they don't take you until you are 26 weeks) And he has ordered an ultrasound every month to check for growth, TTTS. Everything has turned out well and both girls are healthy and within days of each other as far as growth goes. The risk of TTTS is there but it's not a HUGE one. I would just make sure you are getting the right scans and let those babies grow!!! You can do it!

14 weeks

I know about TTTS thats why i said that all i have to worry about now is that i was more terrified of the cord entanglement but now that you told me they are at no risk of that issue i just have to pray about the TTTS. All my other boys were singleton babies so im really afraid because of all the risk with carrying multiples. My due date is December 14 im roughly about 14 weeks an 6 days.

2 different issues

Mo-Di is Monochorionic-Diamniotic twins. Basically twins with 1 placenta, which I belive is what you are describing with your pregnancy. When you first posted though, you mentioned cord entanglement which is not the same as TTTS. Un fortunately with mo-di twins there is still risk for TTTS. That is not the same as cord entanglement (two cords wrapping around each other) TTTS is still very much a concern for you but can be managed. Your doc should be referring you to a specialist, at least by 16-20 wks. How far along are you? Check out www.tttsfoundation.org for info. Be encouraged though, you can do this!

Thanks so much I was worried about that so they have a better chanve of survival all I have to worry about is TTT. If you dont mind me asking what is mo/di? Thanks so much you. You have gave me a great deal of relief.

Monochorionic

If you have 1 placenta, but 2 sacs, then your twins are identical, but should still be safe from cord entanglement. I gather that is your concern. That is an issue in mo/mo twins, which are 1 placenta, 1 sac, so that your babes are floating around in a shared space. If they are in their own sac, they are mo/di and should be okay as far as cord entanglement.

My Concern

My concern is not if they are identical are not I just want to know if they still can get tangled up even if they are in two different sacs?

What I was told

When the lady did my ultrasound she said that they were identical I only have one placenta but its to babies. Im only going by what the ultrasound tech said since she is a perfessional

Confused

Are you sure you are having monoamniotic twins? That means they are in one sac with no membrane if I'm not mistaken. What you're describing isn't that. Maybe you mean monochorionic?
