Movement Of Twins During Pregnancy

I'm 19 weeks and 1 day. I have my first ultrasound on Thursday Feb. 4th 2010.
At my last OB visit, the Dr. said my uterus was large for my due date, but said nothing else. She had a very hard time finding the heartbeat because it was so much higher than it should have been. I did some reaserch online and found out that a large uterus could be caused by twins, fibroids, extra fluid... This is my first pregnancy, twins run in my family. It's killing me. I want to know if I'm having one or two so bad. 3 weeks ago I only felt movement where we found the heartbeat, now I'm feeling it more to the side and a bit lower... But I think I can still feel movement above my belly button too... I guess my question is, can you distinguish each babies movement? And is it normal to feel one stronger than the other at different times? Thanks very much.

Not twins after all.

Thank you for your comments. My Husband and I had our ultrasound on Thursday. We're not having twins afterall. Although I'm large enough to. lol The tech said I have a lot of fluid in my uterus. My baby BOY ^_^ Has plenty of room to swim around and was the reason for the strange movement. I hope this helps anyone else who's questioning if they're having twins or not. Thanks again.

I am 21 weeks 2morrow and I can feel movement at the bottom real low and then baby b is up around my belly button and I can just tell the different ones because my dr does a sono at every appt and this is how they have been laying for awhile now....since they are getting larger i am sure it will be hard to tell the difference but let us know how it goes for you and good luck!

possible twins?

There are some really goofy things about twin pregnancy and their movements..One is usually more active than the other for sure..But, again, the only way to know for sure is to get checked out on the u/s...

I would say an ultrasound is the only way to answer the question of twins. It is very hard to distinguish movements for most people, including myself at 25 weeks. Until the twins are big enough that they cannot really move around you really would have no idea which one it was. And even then it is possible for them to switch positions without you knowing it.
