Pregnant With My Late Husband's Twins

by Kelly Bowen

Hi everyone,

I'm 24 years old and a mother to a nearly 2 year old son who is my life.

I married the love of my life a year and half ago but saddly he died 2 days later after fighting cancer for 2 years. Due to his cancer he got the oppitunity to freeze his sperm due to the fact the chemo would kill them off. So, that's what he did shortly after we decided to go ahead and have IVF for a baby and it worked 1st time and I got pregnant with twins. But, at 12 weeks I lost one of the twins. My son survived.

After about 5 months of being a 1st time mum we decided we would like to have another baby so we decided to try the IVF again. Sadly, at that time my husband had the news we all dreaded that his cancer was termanl.

With in a week we arranged our wedding and got married. But our wedding night he went down hill and ended up in hospital the following morning and passed away the day after that.

After about 2 months I decied to continue with the IVF using my husband's sperm to have a full blood brother or sister for my son but it didn't work. I tried again and that failed too so I decided I would have one more go and that would be it because it's so emotional doing the treatment. Luckily it worked this time and when I went for my 7 week scan there were twins in there.

I was over the moon on my 20 week scan when I found out I was having a boy and a girl! I was even more landed that's what I wanted. My son will have a bro and sis!

I'm 25 weeks now and really looking forward to having my babies. Just wish my husband was here to share this with me. xx

Congratulations, and of course comisserations. I'm expecting twins and just split up with the father of my children but we remain good friends. I'm so sorry your husband can't enjoy this with you. But well done for being strong.

You are very blessed as this is what I would have done in this circumstance. No doubt that even with a loss you have been double blessed (actually tripled w/ ur first son). My heart goes out to you and, although I do not know you, I wish you the best and I would really like to hear (read) when you deliver those bundles of joy. God bless you always.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your story really touched my heart. You will always have a reminder of your husband through your babies. Try to stay strong for them, and keep the memory of there dad alive so that they will always know how much their dad wanted and loved them, even before they were here....many hugs to you and congrats on the new additions!
